April 12, 2013 | 6 - 10 pm … Whitney Oaks Country Club, Rocklin
Rocklin Elementary needs your help! We are the oldest community school in Rocklin with 540 K-6th grade students. Over the years, local businesses and parents have partnered with us to provide the best education possible for our kids. Help from our community has provided funds to continue programs like Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) and the Art Docent Program. This year we are faced with the additional need to save our science lab.
Our current goal … saving the Arts AND Sciences
As you know, our schools are constantly facing a reduction of educational funding. Unfortunately, art and music programs are the first to be eliminated and our schools have struggled to keep them going. Rocklin Elementary has been fortunate to have a state of the art science lab on its campus for the past eight years. The students discover for themselves through a comprehensive series of hands-on experiments and software-based investigations. The science lab costs $13,000 per year to run and the funds to keep it operating have simply been eliminated from the district budget.
Our parents take action – Fundraising for valuable programs
Each year, parent volunteers donate numerous hours of time to plan a Student Art Show and Auction. Last year, this event raised a record $10,000. Funds raised from this event directly supported our art docent and VAPA programs and a large portion helped save our science lab for the current school year. These art and science programs go above and beyond the core curriculum and have given our students the well balanced education they deserve.
Community business support = quality education
This school year marks the 9th Annual Student Art Show and Auction and our goal is to raise $14,000. This amount will save our science lab and fund the art programs. Whether you are a continued supporter of Rocklin Elementary or a new partner, we are asking for your help. Local businesses can support our largest fundraiser in the following ways:
• Event Sponsorship
• Donate goods and services for our silent auction
• Donate goods and services for our raffle
Please consider how you can support Rocklin Elementary and help our students continue to discover the beauty of art and science in their school!
